Manpower, a global staffing giant is notifying nearly 145,000 people that their personal data was stolen in a cyberattack that occurred between December 29, 2024 and January 12, 2025. The breach was discovered during an investigation into an IT outage at the company’s Lansing, Michigan office.
The attackers accessed sensitive files containing personal information. Manpower has since enhanced its cybersecurity measures and is working with the FBI. Affected individuals are being offered free credit monitoring and identity theft protection through Equifax.
The RansomHub ransomware group claimed responsibility for the attack, alleging it stole 500GB of data including client records, financial documents, HR analytics, and confidential contracts. The group later removed Manpower from its leak site, hinting at a possible ransom payment.
RansomHub, active since early 2024, has targeted major organizations such as Halliburton, Rite Aid, Christie's, and Frontier Communications. It also leaked data from Change Healthcare in a breach affecting over 190 million people. The FBI previously reported that RansomHub affiliates had compromised more than 200 critical infrastructure entities in the U.S. by August 2024.
