Apple Introduces Liquid Glass Interface and iOS 26 at WWDC 2025

Apple Introduces Liquid Glass Interface and iOS 26 at WWDC 2025

Apple Unveils 'Liquid Glass' Interface in Major Design Overhaul

Apple Inc. introduced a new operating system interface called Liquid Glass during its annual Worldwide Developers Conference, describing it as the company’s most significant design update to date.

For the first time, a unified interface will operate across all Apple products, according to executive Alan Dye during a video presentation from the company’s headquarters in Cupertino, California. Apple also announced that its AI models will soon be accessible to external app developers.

As part of the redesign, Apple will rename its operating system lineup by using the year instead of version numbers.

WWDC, the event where Apple highlights its newest software and features, is placing a strong emphasis on the updated operating systems this year. Although some new AI tools are being introduced, the spotlight remains on the interface revamp. The artificial intelligence sector has been challenging for Apple. Following last year’s launch of the Apple Intelligence platform, the company was slow to release new features, and its AI offerings have struggled to keep up with competitors in Silicon Valley. This year’s event is not expected to deliver a major shift, but Apple reportedly plans to reveal more advanced AI innovations at WWDC in 2026, according to Bloomberg News.

Apple shares dropped 19 percent this year through the end of last week, and the company no longer holds the title of the world’s most valuable firm. On Monday, the stock remained relatively steady, trading at $203.23 as of 1:12 p.m. in New York.

At the same time, Apple is navigating rising tariffs, which has led the company to move the production of iPhones destined for the U.S. market to India. Despite these adjustments, Apple is increasingly expected to raise its prices. The company typically announces new hardware in September.
