Amazon Tests AI Audio Summaries in Product Listings

Amazon is testing AI-powered short-form audio summaries on select product detail pages,

the company announced on Wednesday, as tech firms continue to incorporate artificial intelligence across their platforms.

This new feature provides product summaries generated through AI analysis of product details, customer reviews, and other online information. It is currently available to a portion of U.S. customers, with plans to expand to more products and users in the near future. Customers can listen to these summaries by tapping the "Hear the highlights" button in the Amazon shopping app.

Amazon has been ramping up its AI efforts across its operations, including the recent revamp of Alexa+, its voice assistant enhanced by generative AI.

The company has also rolled out AI-driven tools like Rufus, a shopping assistant that answers customer questions, and Shopping Guides, which offer product suggestions and advice, on its website.

Tech companies are racing to deliver AI features to consumers, driven by the widespread popularity of OpenAI’s ChatGPT. Last month, OpenAI enhanced ChatGPT’s web browsing to improve online shopping by providing personalized product recommendations, images, reviews, and direct purchase links.

Major tech firms such as Google and Meta continue to introduce AI-powered updates and features across their platforms.
