French retailer Auchan has reported a data breach affecting hundreds of thousands of customers. Hackers accessed loyalty card data including names, addresses, phone numbers, emails, and card numbers. Bank details, passwords, and PINs were not compromised.
Impacted customers have been notified, and Auchan has deactivated affected cards. New cards must be collected in-store to restore Waaoh savings. The company has informed France’s data protection authority, CNIL, and taken steps to strengthen its systems.
Media outlet Zataz warns that the stolen data could be used for phishing, spoofing, and other malicious activity. The breach may be linked to a partner and resembles a previous incident from November 2024.
Auchan urges customers to stay vigilant and avoid clicking suspicious links or sharing sensitive information.
