Coca-Cola Faces Possible Data Breach by Ransomware Gang
A ransomware group known as Everest claims to have breached Coca-Cola’s systems, exposing sensitive employee information and internal documents. The company’s name was listed on a dark web leak site used by the group, along with screenshots of the allegedly stolen data.
The leaked material appears to include employee identification details, salary information, and other documents typically managed by human resources. The breach reportedly involves Coca-Cola’s Middle East distributor.
If confirmed, the exposure of personally identifiable information (PII) could pose serious risks to affected individuals. Threat actors may use the data for identity theft, financial fraud, or highly targeted phishing attacks. By impersonating Coca-Cola, attackers could trick employees or partners into revealing even more sensitive information.
According to Cybernews’ dark web tracker, Ransomlooker, the Everest ransomware group has targeted at least 91 organizations over the past year.
Coca-Cola has not yet confirmed the breach. If validated, the incident could have significant privacy and security implications for both the company and its employees.
