Arla Foods Cyberattack Disrupts Production and Delays Operations

Arla Foods Confirms Cyberattack Disrupted German Production Site

Arla Foods has confirmed that it was recently targeted by a cyberattack which disrupted production operations at its facility in Upahl, Germany. The company explained that the incident only impacted the local IT network at that site and did not affect other production locations.

According to a spokesperson, safety measures were implemented immediately, leading to a temporary halt in production. Arla is an international dairy producer and farmer-owned cooperative that operates in 39 countries with 23,000 employees and generates annual revenue of €13.8 billion. Its products, including brands like Arla, Lurpak, Puck, Castello, and Starbucks, are sold in 140 countries.

The company is currently working to restore operations at the affected facility and expects to resume normal production within a few days. Customers who may experience delivery delays or cancellations have already been informed.

Although Arla declined to confirm whether the attack involved data theft or file encryption, there have been no public claims or listings on known ransomware extortion sites. The specific nature of the attack and the responsible party have not yet been identified.
