Nokia, e& UAE, and MediaTek Break 5G Speed Record in Middle East

Nokia, e& UAE, and MediaTek Break 5G Speed Record in Middle East

Nokia, in partnership with e& UAE, the leading telecom brand of e& in the UAE and MediaTek, has successfully completed the Middle East’s first demonstration of six

component carrier (6CC) aggregation in a 5G Standalone (SA) network. This trial combined 400 MHz of e& UAE’s 5G mid-band spectrum to achieve multi-gigabit peak speeds, enabling users to download ultra-high-definition movies in just seconds. The achievement reinforces e& UAE’s standing as the world’s fastest mobile network and strengthens its investment in future-ready radio access infrastructure.

The demonstration used e& UAE’s commercial spectrum across the 3.5 GHz, 2.6 GHz, 2.1 GHz, and 1.8 GHz bands, delivering an impressive 5.8 Gbps throughput. Nokia supplied advanced high-capacity solutions from its AirScale portfolio, including Habrok 64 Massive MIMO radios, dual-band radios, baseband technology, and carrier aggregation software. MediaTek supported the test with a prototype smartphone equipped with its top-tier 5G chipset that supports 6CC aggregation.

Together, Nokia and e& UAE are setting the foundation for the next phase of 5G network evolution, meeting the rising demand for high-speed data and digital services across the region.

“Completing the 6CC carrier aggregation trial alongside e& and Nokia represents a major step forward in advancing 5G technology. Conducted using our latest M90 modem platform, this trial highlights MediaTek’s commitment to boosting download speeds, optimizing network performance, and delivering exceptional connectivity,” said HC Hwang, General Manager of Wireless Communication System and Partnership at MediaTek.
