Microsoft Teams Faces File-Sharing Outage, Investigation Underway
On Tuesday, April 15, 2025, Microsoft Teams users experienced a major disruption in file-sharing functions. Microsoft confirmed the issue and stated that an investigation is ongoing.
The outage, affecting users’ ability to share files through the Teams platform, was first acknowledged via the Microsoft 365 Status X account. Users were directed to the Microsoft 365 Admin Center for updates, with the incident tracked under ID “TM1055900.” Interestingly, the Microsoft 365 Service Health Status initially showed no issues, hinting that the problem might be limited to specific Teams features.
This comes shortly after previous service disruptions involving Microsoft’s Exchange Admin Center and its family subscription services, raising concerns about recurring stability challenges.
Users reported difficulties accessing files, seeing error messages, and facing problems retrieving SharePoint documents via Teams. Suggested troubleshooting includes reviewing file permissions, verifying team memberships, and checking OneDrive sync status.
Microsoft has yet to provide an estimated fix time but assured users that a resolution is underway. Meanwhile, users are encouraged to use alternative sharing options, like uploading documents to OneDrive and sharing links directly.
The incident highlights the complexities of managing large-scale cloud services and the significant effect such outages can have on workplace productivity.
