Beijing is set to launch the world’s first “4S store” dedicated to artificial intelligence (AI)
robots, offering services such as robot sales, maintenance, spare parts, and customer support.
Traditionally, a “4S store” refers to an authorized dealership that provides sales, service, spare parts, and surveys. The same concept will apply here, with the store providing comprehensive robot-related services under one roof.
“As the industry grows, it’s important to establish an integrated, one-stop platform to meet service needs,” said Liang Liang, deputy director of the Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area (BDA) Administrative Committee. The facility will include a nationwide rapid-response spare parts network and a professional team for robot maintenance, repair, and assembly.
During a press conference, it was revealed that the store will also feature immersive displays and scenario-based demonstrations to help customers understand robot capabilities. These may include performances such as soccer games, singing, and dancing.
Interest in the project is already high. More than 100 robotics supply chain enterprises have expressed a desire to join the platform. Ten leading embodied AI robot companies including the Beijing Humanoid Robot Innovation Center, UBTECH, and Galaxea are expected to be among the first to participate.
A pilot version of the 4S store is scheduled to open in a robotics industrial park in Yizhuang, southern Beijing, during the 2025 World Robot Conference taking place from August 8 to 12. A complete version of the store is expected to launch in November.
Yizhuang was chosen for its importance to Beijing’s robotics industry. The area is home to more than 300 robotics and smart manufacturing companies.
