Meta has teamed up with generative AI startup Midjourney to license its "aesthetic technology" for future products and models. The collaboration will connect both companies’ research teams, aiming to enhance Meta’s visual output and strengthen its AI strategy amid fierce competition from OpenAI and Google.
Midjourney, known for generating images from text prompts via subscription, could help Meta streamline content creation and improve user engagement. Meta’s Chief AI Officer Alexandr Wang praised the startup’s capabilities, noting the partnership is part of a broader plan combining top talent, computing power, and strategic alliances.
This move follows Meta’s recent AI restructuring under Superintelligence Labs, a response to internal changes and mixed reactions to its Llama 4 model.
