A Russian-linked cybercrime organization, the INC ransomware gang, claims to have stolen 47GB of data from Summit Golf Brands, a major golf apparel and sportswear company. The gang has posted the company on its dark web leak site and started a countdown timer, threatening to publicly release the stolen information.
Details of the Extortion
Summit Golf Brands is the parent company for well-known labels such as Zero Restriction and Fairway & Greene, generating revenue of nearly $28 million. The leak notice was posted on October 16, 2025.
The Cybernews research team, while investigating the post noted that the gang has not yet provided any data samples to authenticate its claims. Listing a victim on a dark web site and setting a timer is a common strategic move by ransomware gangs to pressure the targeted organization into paying a ransom before the deadline expires. At the time of writing, the countdown indicates only three days remain until the alleged data is scheduled for public release.
About INC Ransom
INC Ransom is a relatively new but rapidly evolving player in the cybercrime space, having emerged in July 2023. According to dark web monitoring tools, the Russian-linked group has already claimed 234 victims.
The gang operates a multi-extortion model, meaning they do more than just encrypt files. They steal sensitive data and use the threat of a public leak as leverage. Notably, their demands sometimes include a deceptive offer to improve the victim's system security if they pay. INC Ransom is known for its wide range of targets, having successfully attacked organizations including defense contractors, hospitals, schools, and major retailers like Ahold Delhaize.
