Kenya and Microsoft Partner to Advance AI and Digital Innovation

Kenya’s Cabinet Secretary for Information, Communication, and the Digital Economy, Hon. William Kabogo, recently met with a Microsoft delegation at the Ministry Headquarters to discuss potential partnerships in advancing the nation’s digital landscape.

Key highlights from the meeting included:

  • Accelerating digital transformation across public services and national infrastructure
  • Boosting cybersecurity measures to safeguard both citizen data and government assets
  • Expanding digital hubs nationwide to foster innovation and accessibility

A major point of interest was the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) into government functions aimed at enhancing service delivery, policy development, and operational resilience. Both parties also explored ways to strengthen data governance and regulatory compliance, including trusted cloud frameworks and sovereignty over data.

The Microsoft team was led by Corporate Vice Presidents Rashida Hodge (Data & AI Customer Success) and Aarti Borkar (Security, Customer Success & Incident Response). Kenya’s Principal Secretaries, Stephen Isaboke and Eng. John Tanui, joined the discussions alongside other senior officials.
