OneNote Introduces 'Paste as Plain Text' Feature on Windows and Mac"

Microsoft is finally adding a long-awaited feature to OneNote: the ability to paste content as plain text. Previously, when users copied text from websites or other apps, OneNote would retain all the original formatting fonts, colors, and styles which could clutter notes or disrupt consistency.

With this update, users can now paste text without any formatting, making it easier to maintain a clean and uniform look in their notebooks. To use the feature, simply:

  • Right-click and choose Paste Options > Keep Text Only,
  • Or go to the Home tab > Paste > Keep Text Only,
  • Or use the shortcut Ctrl + Shift + V on Windows or Command + Shift + V on Mac.

Microsoft confirmed in a blog post that the feature is currently rolling out. It’s available in OneNote for Windows version 2508 (Build 19101.10000) and Mac Build 16.100 (25080335) or later. This small but impactful change should make note-taking smoother and more customizable for users who prefer a plain-text workflow.
